Deepawali is a festival of lights. This is one of the most famous festivals of India. It is celebrated to mark the return of Lord Rama to his kingdom Ayodhya after defeating the demon king Ravana, the king of Lanka.It is one of the most important festivals, praying to Lord Ganesha – the removes of obstacles. Goddess Lakshmi the bestower of virtues, and Lord Rama the destroyer of evil.
Deepawali, popularly known as Diwali. The festival falls on the last three days of the dark half [Krishnapaksh] of the month of Kartik [October/November].
Merchants open their new books of account on this day. People decorate their homes and work places with rows of lamps, buy and wear new clothes and ornaments, eat and distributes lots of sweets to everyone.
